A GOOD APPROACH: THE RESCUE KENYA 2012

in Hartford, Connecticut.

For two years since 1989 there was a continuous outcry of war and chaos.

As soon as the outcry stopped in 1990, unstoppable senseless killings started in Kenya for many
years until end of January 2008.

In the two years 1991 and 2008, more than 800 and 1,200 innocent Kenyans respectively, were killed.

The number of people who were killed between 1992 and 2007 has never been established. Efforts to stop those
killings since 1991 failed. There are still no steps or measures that have been put
in place to stop any further killings.

At the 13th. International Anti-Corruption Conference in Athens Greece in 2008 attended by 1,500 participants from all over the World, I raised the issues of the poor Governance, the rampant corruption and the continued killings of innocent Kenyans by hired youth.

Kenya was represented at the meeting by high ranking Government officials who included the Senior Deputy Clerk to
the Kenya National Assembly, Mr. Omondi Omolo, the then deputy director of the Kenya Anti Corruption, Mr. Wanjala and Hon. Musikari Kombo.

The Meeting at Wakefield MA. USA On December 11 which was covered by the Ajabu Africa, should go into Kenya history as the first meeting of its kind. The meeting which was called by Bishop Joshua Wambua, directly addressed those continued killings of innocent women and children in Kenya, an occurrence which has further continued to dent the image of Kenya internationally.

The meeting launched the “RESCUE KENYA 2012”, whose main objectives are to prevent a recurrence of the
senseless killings witnessed in Kenya for many years.

Although the methods of operation by the new body, were not addressed or defined at the meeting, I wish to plead with the new movement to support the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the post election violence, some of who were involved in the 1991 mayhem.

The prosecution of those perpetrators is at the moment the only way, future killings can be stopped.

Nevertheless, I have no doubt that Kenyans and the entire World will appreciate the application of any other method which can hasten an end to those killings.

If we can all support the ICC in the handling of the Post election Violence, we can necessitate quick prosecutions. What may be important for the new group is the setting up of a criteria that can be adopted by Kenyans during elections.

Often Kenyans elect thieves, Criminals and murderers in positions of leadership in every election. This may be what has caused poor Governance and the rampant corruption which has cost the country the loss of lots of Public Funds.

If all Kenyans would accept that a rich, educated and politically experienced person can be incompetent, a thief, a murderer, and/or a criminal, there can be room for the adoption of a good criteria which can help Kenyans identify leaders from among Political opportunists who emerge in great numbers during every election.

Not every body can make a good leader. The Church should derive a criteria which can help Kenyans identify honest and transparent leaders.

‘Kenyan Time’

Posted by jambonewspot on December 17, 2009

By Timothy K. Ndegwa

Najivunia kuwa Mkenya (Am proud to be a Kenyan) but this time I am a little

embarrassed to associate myself with Kenyans.

Fellow Kenyans, there is one way of telling time, by using the universal clock. But

it has been proven through out the world that Kenyans have a different source of

telling time.

Kenyans have turned to be event oriented and not time oriented. Recently I have been

to different Kenyan events particularly outside Kenya and like they say ‘you can

take a villager from a village, but you can not take a village from the villager’.

Kenyans are the ones that you see attending events late. They distract everyone by

tip toeing even to their own events.

It seems that any time you have an event; you have to give Kenyans a different time

from the official one. Why, because they are known to be late unless it has to be at

their work place where they are seldom tardy.

On a recent issue of Kenyan Empowerment Newspaper, Kenyans were late to attend a

speech by their own Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga in Harvard University. Ninety

eight percent of attendees were whites. Most of the Kenyans were locked outside

because they were late. Now they are blaming PM Odinga for ignoring them. He has a

schedule to keep by being on time.

When you visit white events, most of the time everyone is sited minutes before the

starting time. They respect time and their events end when they say it will end.

The Kenyan events start late because everyone is waiting for everyone. That is

punishing some of us who are time conscious. We will stay in the events until the cows go home and leave us in the fields!

Like my grandma WaMwoho (God rest her soul) used to say, ‘be careful that you are not late for your own funeral’
